Catena Clearing is hiring a remote Forward Deployed Engineer to operate at the intersection of customers, engineering, and product. This role involves managing the technical components of sales cycles, guiding customers through pilots and onboarding, and collaborating internally with the go-to-market team and the CTO. The position suits individuals who enjoy tackling messy real-world systems, working directly with clients, and troubleshooting complex technical issues.
The person in this role will serve as the technical authority for clients, help establish the sales engineering function, and shape product strategy using real production insights. Occasional travel for team and client on-sites is required, and candidates must be based in the United States without need for sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate directly with clients throughout onboarding, pilot phases, and early production stages
- Resolve integration problems on both client and company ends
- Verify real-world data covering location, hours of service, assets, and trailers
- Build and test end-to-end ingestion pipelines, transformations, mappings, and webhooks
- Detect provider-specific quirks and edge cases
- Assess new integrations prior to and following launch
- Translate field observations and recurring patterns into product roadmap priorities
- Coordinate with telematics providers regarding APIs, sandboxes, and technical issues
- Enhance documentation for internal teams and clients
Requirements
- Possess strong attention to detail and an ownership mindset
- Work effectively with structured data formats such as JSON, SQL, and CSV
- Demonstrate familiarity with webhooks, APIs, and technical documentation
- Reason through complex, messy real-world systems
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Manage multiple clients and integrations simultaneously
- Operate effectively in a remote-first setting
- Reside in the US without requiring visa sponsorship
Qualifications
- Bring at least two years of software engineering experience
- Have a background in solution engineering, data operations, or integrations
- Possess prior experience in logistics, freight, or telematics
