Bosch seeks a Front Line Manager - Shift In charge for the Spark plug Ceramics area to oversee shift operations within value streams at its Bengaluru location. This full-time, on-site role focuses on leading shop-floor associates, maintaining safety and quality standards, managing industrial relations, and driving continuous improvement to meet operational targets.
The position requires organizing production setups based on schedules, directing primary activities to achieve shift goals, documenting safety checks, recording shift events, and handing over operations smoothly to the next shift. The manager will track key performance indicators such as OEE, FPY, scrap, and tool life, collaborate with cross-functional teams, address associate grievances, and implement organizational change initiatives.
Additionally, the role involves coaching and training staff, monitoring skill levels, adhering to manufacturing process standards, conducting checks during shift changes, and compiling shop-floor deliverables into systems like SAP.
Responsibilities
- Supervise shift operations and manage shop-floor associates to achieve targeted operational results
- Organize production setups according to schedules, assign tasks, and steer primary production activities
- Conduct and document daily checks and layer process conformance to ensure safety and quality standards
- Record and summarize shift events and performance metrics for seamless shift handovers
- Track production efficiency KPIs, identify deviations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on corrective actions
- Lead daily meetings with associates, managers, and vendors to communicate goals and performance
- Engage proactively with associates to resolve grievances and maintain industrial discipline
- Coach and motivate associates in problem-solving, continuous improvement, and Kaizen suggestions
- Train new associates and monitor skill development of existing production line staff
- Execute manufacturing process checks during shift start and changeovers using deviation management when needed
- Compile and report shop-floor deliverables including SAP data, input hours, rejection quantities, and downtimes
Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering
- At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing and process planning
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of product and component functions, drawings, BOM, PDS, and product costing
- Competent knowledge in production management, manufacturing processes, and measurement techniques
- Familiarity with operations management, Bosch Code of Business Conduct, safety regulations, and environmental practices
- Understanding of product liability, quality management, lean management, and Bosch Production System elements
- Proficiency in communication, conflict management, SAP, MES, and Microsoft Office tools
