Caylent is seeking a Frontend Architect to join its Cloud Native Applications team. Caylent operates as an AI-first cloud services company helping organizations modernize technology, build intelligent products, and implement artificial intelligence solutions. As an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner and a charter member of the Claude Partner Network, the organization provides services across generative and agentic AI, cloud migration, application development, data and analytics, DevOps, security, and customer experience transformation.
In this position, you will take ownership of the architecture for real-time, high-performance web applications built on AWS. The scope spans from initial customer discovery through production launch. You will design interactions across the browser, edge, and API tiers using technologies like React, Next.js, GraphQL, AWS AppSync, Amazon CloudFront, and AWS WAF, while managing infrastructure through Terraform. This position suits an experienced technical professional who enjoys a hands-on coding role while acting as a trusted advisor and mentor to project teams and clients.
The base salary range for this role is CAD 152,000 to 171,000 per year, which may be supplemented by additional components such as bonuses, commissions, or equity depending on individual and company performance. Applicants must hold current legal authorization to work in the hiring country, as visa or work permit sponsorships are unavailable.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical discovery sessions, define frontend and edge architectures, and guide delivery teams through agile ceremonies
- Produce clear architecture decisions, solution designs, and diagrams for technical and executive stakeholders
- Maintain hands-on coding responsibilities, establish frontend standards, conduct design and code reviews, and mentor engineers
- Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development and AI-powered user interfaces, and integrate proven patterns
- Partner with design, backend, and DevOps teams to align frontend architecture with data models, APIs, and infrastructure requirements
- Design CI/CD pipelines, handle automated builds, configure preview environments, and execute deployment strategies
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience, with a minimum of 3 years dedicated to frontend engineering and 1 or more years in a technical lead or architect role
- Expert proficiency in building production applications utilizing React.js and TypeScript
- Extensive background in Next.js development including the App Router, server components, rendering strategies, route handlers, and caching
- Hands-on experience designing and consuming GraphQL APIs, implementing real-time WebSockets subscriptions, and working with AWS AppSync
- Practical background with Amazon CloudFront content delivery configurations, edge functions, and performance or cost tuning
- Working familiarity with AWS WAF rule groups, rate limiting, bot control, and core web security fundamentals
- Current legal authorization to work in the position's country without visa or work permit sponsorship
Qualifications
- AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) or AWS Certified Developer
- Familiarity with micro-frontends, monorepos utilizing Nx or Turborepo, and design system strategies
- Experience working with Amazon Cognito or alternative identity providers, along with API gateways and BFF patterns
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools like AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform
- Exposure to Large Language Models, Amazon Bedrock, and building AI-first user experiences
- Prior background working within consulting or professional services settings
