This role sits within a team that forms the foundation of Typeform product development, establishing shared tooling, infrastructure, and systems across the platform. The position focuses heavily on backend duties to advance internal infrastructure, APIs, automation, and release pipelines. Ideal candidates enjoy developing scalable internal platforms and developer tooling while maintaining the flexibility to handle frontend tasks when necessary.
Daily work involves collaborating closely with designers and product engineers to refine workflows, support the engineering monorepo, and enhance developer experience. Responsibilities include maintaining backend services, improving component distribution and asset management infrastructure, contributing to CI/CD pipelines, and aiding product teams with shared tooling adoption. Ongoing projects include legacy code migration, documentation platform updates, automation enhancements, and sandbox improvements. Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and internal tooling for product development teams
- Improve infrastructure for component distribution, asset management, documentation, and release workflows
- Support and evolve the engineering monorepo to enhance scalability and maintainability
- Collaborate with designers and frontend engineers to ensure consistent implementation of shared patterns
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automation, testing, and deployment processes using GitHub Actions
- Increase reliability and performance of internal systems through observability and monitoring workflows
- Assist product teams in adopting and integrating shared services and tooling
- Create documentation and developer tools to improve onboarding and discoverability
- Participate in platform improvements including legacy code migration and automation enhancements
- Engage in architecture discussions to provide practical engineering solutions
Requirements
- Production experience working with JavaScript or TypeScript
- Understanding of backend development principles and API or internal service creation
- Familiarity with Node.js and modern web frameworks like React or Next.js
- Experience working with relational databases and database design fundamentals
- Familiarity with testing practices, software quality principles, CI/CD workflows, and developer tooling
- Experience using Git and collaborative engineering workflows
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with engineers and designers
- Interest in platform engineering, internal tooling, or developer experience
Qualifications
- Experience working in a product-led SaaS company
- Exposure to frontend infrastructure or shared platform tooling
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools
- Experience contributing to monorepos or internal platform tooling
- Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
