As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in backend development, you will design and construct scalable platform and backend services supporting financial products used by millions. This role involves tackling complex distributed systems, executing architectural decisions, managing technical projects from design through deployment, and mentoring engineering team members. You will collaborate closely with product teams, drive operational excellence, and optimize infrastructure running on AWS using technologies such as Golang, Ruby on Rails, Kubernetes, and relational databases.
Responsibilities
- Develop backend features in cooperation with the Product team
- Build and evolve platform services allowing individual markets to implement specific features
- Design and develop scalable solutions for complex financial processes
- Drive architecture and technology decisions for customer experiences
- Design, develop, and deploy medium to large-sized projects
- Build and maintain reliable, scalable, and resilient distributed systems
- Design and improve relational database schemas for data integrity and performance
- Contribute to coding standards, code reviews, testing, and operational excellence
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to other engineering team members
- Analyze and improve the efficiency and stability of monitoring, CI/CD, and platform integrations
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of professional backend software development experience
- Experience designing and building distributed systems
- Experience building and maintaining platform services or shared backend infrastructure
- Experience with relational database design, data modelling, SQL, indexing, and performance optimization
- Experience with Golang and backend development
- Understanding of software engineering principles, system design, and object-oriented design
- Problem-solving skills for complex technical challenges
- Verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications
- Experience building complex software systems used by customers at scale
- Understanding of software engineering practices across the full software development lifecycle
- Experience with microservices and distributed architectures
- Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Experience with high-volume systems designed for scalability, availability, and resilience
- Experience gathering requirements and translating them into technical designs
- Background in fintech, banking, lending, or other financial services
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical direction
- Familiarity with AI-native development tools
- Full-stack experience with React Native, Next.js, or modern web development technologies
