Job Description
Wise is hiring a Group Risk Lead for Assets Risk to join its Global Risk team in London. This hybrid role operates on a schedule of three days on-site and two days at home, with working hours from 9am to 6pm. The position functions as a second-line risk role reporting to the Head of Risk Product Governance.
The successful candidate will help scale the Wise Assets product—a self-directed feature within the multi-currency account allowing eligible customers to invest in market stocks or money market funds managed by third parties. The role focuses on embedding the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, providing independent oversight, reviewing new product expansions, and establishing appropriate risk appetites.
This opportunity is suited for risk professionals with experience in wealth management, banking, fintech, or investment environments who can balance robust governance with commercial growth.
Responsibilities
- Implement and embed the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, policies, standards, and methodologies across the Wise Assets ecosystem
- Establish and maintain risk appetite parameters for the Assets product
- Provide independent second-line oversight and challenge on risk assessments, control design, and control effectiveness
- Review new product features, market expansions, and strategic initiatives to offer pragmatic risk advice and mitigation strategies
- Drive risk and control mapping activities using methodologies like Risk and Control Self-Assessments
- Monitor control assurance activities, key risk indicators, and operational incidents to identify emerging risks or control failures
- Own and coordinate issue management by tracking remediation plans, challenging delivery timelines, and escalating concerns
- Produce risk reporting and insights for governance committees and senior stakeholders
- Deliver risk training and awareness initiatives to strengthen risk culture and ownership
Requirements
- Significant experience within financial services, fintech, banking, wealth management, or investment environments
- Demonstrated experience implementing or operating enterprise risk management frameworks within regulated financial entities
- Strong understanding of non-financial risk management concepts including operational, regulatory, conduct, and financial crime risk
- Ability to provide independent challenge and escalation while maintaining constructive stakeholder relationships
- Strong analytical, data management, and reporting skills
Qualifications
- Experience working within or supporting investment products, asset management, brokerage, or regulated investment firms
- Experience working in global and cross-functional technology-driven or high-growth environments
