Everglade Works, a fast-growing IT company, is hiring a full-time remote IT Administrator who will keep its infrastructure running and improve it. The role pays $40 to $50 per hour and is open only to candidates residing in the United States.
Day to day, the administrator keeps servers, networks and cloud environments healthy, handles helpdesk tickets from remote staff, and sets access controls and security practices that satisfy regulatory expectations. The job also covers cloud and SaaS tools, among them AWS, Azure and Google Workspace, along with backup and disaster recovery planning, deployment and configuration of software and company devices, and scripts that automate routine work. The administrator helps write and enforce IT policies across the company.
Applicants should have five or more years managing IT in remote or hybrid environments. Solid familiarity with Windows, macOS and Linux, experience with VMware or Hyper-V virtualization, and hands-on work with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud are needed. Network administration skills covering VPNs, firewalls, DNS and DHCP are also required, along with scripting in PowerShell, Bash or Python. An undergraduate degree and credentials such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, an AWS SysOps certification or an Azure administrator certificate are preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Keep servers, networks and cloud systems running, monitoring and fixing faults
- Give technical support and helpdesk coverage to remote employees
- Put cybersecurity practices in place, manage access rights and support compliance
- Oversee AWS, Azure and Google Workspace for performance and security
- Set and maintain data backup and recovery plans
- Write and keep up scripts that automate IT tasks
- Roll out and manage software and company hardware
- Draft and enforce IT policies organization-wide
Requirements
- Five-plus years of IT administration, ideally in remote or hybrid settings
- Solid familiarity with Windows, macOS and Linux
- Experience with VMware or Hyper-V virtualization and with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
- Hands-on network administration with VPNs, firewalls, DNS and DHCP
- Proficiency with cybersecurity tools and good security habits
- Scripting in PowerShell, Bash or Python
- Strong troubleshooting, communication and teamwork skills
- Comfortable working independently and juggling priorities
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in information technology, computing or a neighboring field
