Job Description

This is an entry-level quality assurance role for someone early in an automation career. The engineer helps write and maintain automated test scripts while learning from more senior members of the automation team. The work also includes drafting and running test cases, plans and scenarios that trace back to what the business needs.

The position is fully remote and sits within PerfectServe, a health IT company founded in 1997. Its clinical communication and physician scheduling software sends texts, pages, phone calls and alerts to the appropriate clinician. The company reports more than 400 employees and 30,000 customers, including clinics, hospitals and health systems.

The role suits a candidate who already understands the basics of software testing, is comfortable with programming concepts, and wants to grow into test automation. Team priorities change with delivery timelines, so the job includes moving between hand testing and automated testing as needed. Clear communication and teamwork with colleagues from other functions matter, especially in a remote setting.

The company says its tools help physicians, nurses and care staff deliver patient care and reduce clinician burnout. The posting expects steady growth in test tooling, scripting and continuous integration practices, guided by senior colleagues, so progress is part of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Write and maintain automated test scripts under the direction of senior automation engineers
  • Help create and carry out test cases, plans and scenarios drawn from business requirements
  • Switch between hand testing and automated testing as timelines and team priorities shift
  • Keep expanding technical testing skills, from frameworks to pipeline tooling and quality practices
  • Stay easy to reach in remote work, keeping the camera on in meetings when that is expected

Requirements

  • Some prior hands-on experience in test work, automation, coding or a closely related area, or a university degree in computing or software engineering from an accredited institution
  • Grasp of how software is built and shipped, including SDLC concepts and Agile routines
  • Familiarity with test automation concepts
  • Exposure to at least one of C#, Python, Java, TypeScript or JavaScript
  • Clear communication and a knack for working across functions

Qualifications

  • Interest in building skills with automation tools and frameworks
  • Health IT experience (listed as a plus)
