Socure is hiring a Legal Counsel, Commercial Contracts to join its legal team, which operates as part of the Financial Operations Center of Excellence. Socure builds identity trust infrastructure designed to verify identities in real time and prevent identity fraud for businesses, governments, and individuals. In this role, reporting to the Head of Commercial Legal or a Senior Legal Counsel, the successful candidate will help shape the corporate legal function, draft and negotiate commercial technology agreements, and build policies and processes. The position suits an independent professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can navigate ambiguous circumstances, and enjoys solving complex customer problems with pragmatic solutions. Candidates must be comfortable utilizing AI tools for contract review, redlining, and drafting as part of their daily workflow.
Responsibilities
- Counsel internal teams including Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Security, and Product on deal structuring, contract negotiations, compliance, and risk
- Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret commercial and technology agreements such as SaaS contracts, reseller and partner deals, vendor contracts, and NDAs
- Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks associated with intellectual property, licensing, data usage, privacy, and compliance
- Learn Socure product offerings and business models to support the launch of new products
- Develop and maintain template agreements, operational guides, and negotiation playbooks
- Utilize AI applications in daily contract workflows to accelerate sales contract turnaround and enhance operational efficiency
- Align customer contract data rights with underlying vendor and data-acquisition agreements in coordination with specialized legal and data teams
Requirements
- Possess a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and an active Bar membership in good standing
- Have four to eight years of post-JD experience independently negotiating technology, SaaS, licensing, vendor, and partner agreements with minimal oversight
- Demonstrate working knowledge of consumer privacy regulations relevant to commercial contracts such as GLBA, FCRA, and CCPA or CPRA
- Demonstrate comfort using AI tools for contract review, drafting, or redlining in daily tasks
- Manage multiple projects independently with differing deadlines and make decisions amidst ambiguity
- Adapt to changes in a dynamic and fast-moving company environment
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in law firms, fintech, or data use and licensing
- Experience with public sector sales contracting for Federal or SLED entities, including government procurement and RFx or RFP responses
- Interest in helping adopt and refine AI-supported processes within the legal team
