Synthesia is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join its Roleplay Sessions team. Founded in 2017, the company provides an artificial intelligence video platform utilized by major organizations globally. In this role, the engineer will construct the coaching engine for interactive training tools, developing models that process learner speech, evaluate performance, generate real-time feedback, and determine subsequent AI avatar behavior during simulated conversations.
This position emphasizes applied machine learning and product-focused software development rather than pure research. Candidates are expected to combine machine learning expertise with strong software engineering practices, taking ownership of core product functionality and iterating rapidly within a high-performing engineering environment.
Responsibilities
- Build the AI engine that powers interactive coaching and roleplay simulations
- Develop models that process and interpret what learners say during sessions
- Score user performance and generate automated real-time feedback
- Determine the next actions and responses of AI avatars based on learner inputs
- Work across multiple products as a product-focused software developer
Requirements
- Minimum of seven years of experience working as a software engineer
- At least two years of experience at a senior level
- Background in high-performing engineering teams operating at scale
