Operating globally through a fully distributed remote team, the organization builds transformative applications at the intersection of technology and human capability.
The company is currently seeking a Mobile Engineer to work on Keet Mobile, a peer-to-peer chat and calling application available on iOS and Android. This position is well-suited for a software developer experienced in building and optimizing mobile software who wants to help scale a peer-to-peer mobile product.
In this capacity, you will take ownership of the Keet Mobile application, which utilizes a custom JavaScript runtime for its P2P core alongside a React Native user interface. You will collaborate directly with design, product, and core P2P engineering colleagues to build features, integrate platform services, and maintain performance standards across real devices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the Keet Mobile chat and calling application for iOS and Android
- Own features from initial UI and UX implementation through to leveraging P2P core APIs
- Build and refine functionalities involving messaging, audio and video calls, media sharing, device pairing, and identity backup
- Incorporate native platform features including push notifications, cameras, biometrics, and background tasks on Android and iOS
- Analyze and improve performance on physical devices regarding startup speed, chat history, media processing, battery efficiency, and network consumption
- Write unit and end-to-end tests while supporting release stability via CI pipelines and crash reporting
- Partner with design, product, and P2P core teams and conduct code reviews maintaining high quality standards
Requirements
- Extensive experience with React Native, Redux for state management, and Redux-Saga
- High proficiency in JavaScript and ES6+
- Experience working with WebSockets and RESTful application programming interfaces
- Prior background working within a remote team
Qualifications
- Familiarity with native languages such as Swift and Kotlin
- Experience utilizing native build tools including Xcode and Android Studio
- Background building applications on peer-to-peer frameworks
