Job Description
Based remotely, this full-time post keeps central offices and fiber huts maintained on schedule. The Network Program Manager is the operational lead for national hut facility maintenance initiatives and the first person escalated to when problems arise, translating facility strategy into what happens on site across several regional markets.
A large share of the role is managing outside maintenance contractors. The manager holds recurring check-ins with the primary vendors to go over site progress, quotes awaiting approval and anything holding work up, arranges dispatch, matches technicians with gFiber escorts where required, and gets vendor office staff set up with system access and taught how to raise orders and log tickets.
On the change management side, the role opens and follows scheduled maintenance tickets in ServiceNow, holds planned work to the required advance-notice period, and makes sure procedures are signed off by sponsors and sent to the network operations center before each window begins. When equipment fails or commercial power drops, the manager raises break/fix orders and quickly arranges emergency vendor deployment.
The person best suited has at least three years in telecom infrastructure, central office or fiber hut work, or critical facility management, has run vendor agreements and field service teams, and understands power and cooling equipment inside hut sites. The employer, Google Fiber (gFiber), presents its mission as making internet service better and says it is still expanding.
Responsibilities
- Run weekly operations meetings with primary maintenance contractors covering site progress, open quotes and blockers
- Organize site dispatch in several regional markets and pair vendor technicians with gFiber escorts when required
- Set up vendor office staff with system access and teach them to raise work orders, log tickets and stay compliant with billing rules
- Build and track scheduled maintenance tickets in ServiceNow for all hut facility jobs
- Hold all planned work to the 72-hour minimum notice required by change control policy
- Keep standard Methods of Procedure current, circulated and followed for generator, HVAC filter and coolant, battery and transfer switch work
- Act as first-level escalation contact when technicians find site deficiencies during maintenance sweeps
- Raise reactive break/fix orders for failed equipment and coordinate emergency vendor dispatch during outages or major hardware incidents
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent hands-on experience
- At least three years working in telecom infrastructure, central offices, fiber huts or critical facility management
- Track record of managing outside vendor agreements, field service teams and cross-team meetings
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow or a similar enterprise ticketing and change platform
- Solid knowledge of hut power equipment such as standby generators, automatic and manual transfer switches, and -48V DC power plants with battery strings
- Solid knowledge of hut cooling and environmental gear, including wall-mounted shelter HVAC units, MERV filters, refrigerant loops and environmental sensors
Qualifications
- Background moving manual processes into Salesforce Field Service Lightning or comparable field-service software
- Experience on 24/7 on-call rotations or in major-incident escalation teams
- Skill in writing, refining and enforcing operating procedures and SOPs across several regions
