Job Description

Toptal operates a global network connecting companies with top talent in technology, design, and business, functioning as a fully remote workforce with over $200 million in annual revenue. The company is currently seeking a Practice Director for its Cloud Services division to expand its Technology Services offerings, focusing specifically on Hybrid Cloud and DevOps.

In this role, the selected candidate will direct, mentor, and expand a team of solution architects responsible for designing, selling, and delivering DevOps and hybrid cloud solutions. This leadership position involves establishing technical standards, defining reference architectures, collaborating with sales to drive pre-sales activities, and partnering with delivery teams to ensure successful project execution. The director will also maintain hands-on involvement by handling architecture for strategic accounts and constructing proofs of concept.

The position is suited for an experienced technical leader with a background in cloud engineering and a proven history of managing teams of solution architects or senior consultants. Candidates must be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment across organizational lines, building technology offerings, and fostering a culture of technical excellence. All communications and application materials must be submitted in English.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of solution architects while fostering a culture of technical excellence and accountability
  • Recruit and onboard top talent possessing expertise in hybrid cloud, Kubernetes, Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD, SRE, security, and related domains
  • Define reference architectures, design patterns, and best practices for hybrid cloud and DevOps solutions
  • Partner with the sales department to evaluate client needs, shape proposals, and lead key technical discussions
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure successful implementation of designs and step in directly on critical client engagements
  • Plan team capacity, manage workloads, and monitor key metrics including win rates, pipeline support, and client satisfaction
  • Forge relationships with major technology partners such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, VMware, Red Hat, and HashiCorp
  • Contribute to marketing content and remain hands-on by owning architecture for strategic accounts and building proofs of concept

Requirements

  • Fifteen or more years of experience in cloud, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering and architecture
  • At least five years of experience leading teams of solution architects or senior engineers within cloud or technology services
  • At least three years of experience managing a business or team, ideally with budget or P&L responsibility
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale hybrid cloud and DevOps service offerings in an enterprise, consulting, or managed services environment
  • Extensive expertise in hybrid and multi-cloud architecture across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform
  • Deep knowledge of cloud-native technologies, containerization, orchestration, microservices, and serverless computing
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, configuration management, CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and automation frameworks
  • Familiarity with security frameworks, compliance standards, FinOps, and cloud cost optimization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree is required
  • MBA degree is preferred
  • Relevant technical certifications such as AWS, Azure, or GCP Architect, CKA/CKAD, or Terraform Associate are a plus
