Job Description
6sense describes its purpose as helping companies multiply growth, retention and efficiency. This full-time, remote Principal Competitive Intelligence Manager works inside Product Marketing and answers to the VP of Product Marketing. The position is an individual contributor role built on research, synthesis and sound judgment.
Ownership covers competitive intelligence and win/loss analysis. The goal is to ground positioning, roadmap discussions and sales enablement in evidence instead of assumptions. The person becomes the reference point when leaders debate why the company wins, why it loses and who it truly competes with.
Day-to-day work includes running the win/loss program from start to finish: interviews, coding, synthesis and presentations to product and executives. Other areas are competitive positioning, tracking how buyers assemble their software stacks, creating battlecards and talk tracks for live deals, and making sure competitive claims are sourced. The role also covers monitoring tools and feeding insight into roadmap, pricing, packaging and analyst relations.
Applicants need eight-plus years of experience in competitive analysis, product marketing or research-led go-to-market work at B2B SaaS companies, including first-hand win/loss work. The base range is $145,503 to $213,404.40. Other pay may include a bonus or commission plan and board-approved stock options.
Responsibilities
- Own the win/loss program from interviews through to readouts for product and executive leadership
- Shape competitive positioning and differentiation with pillar product marketing managers, backed by evidence
- Analyze how buyers piece together their stacks, where products are being swapped out and which categories are merging
- Build battlecards, rebuttals to objections, probing questions that set traps and talk tracks for live deals
- Source every competitive number used with customers and decline claims that cannot be supported
- Own competitive monitoring and alerting tools and decide what reaches the field versus stays internal
- Provide competitive evidence to inform roadmap, pricing, packaging and analyst relations
- Explain why the company wins and loses, by competitor and by segment
Requirements
- Eight or more years in competitive, product marketing or research-led go-to-market work at B2B software companies
- Real win/loss experience: has built the program, conducted interviews and coded findings personally
- Able to do primary research and be candid about what the evidence shows and does not show
- Writes synthesis that executives can act on
- Willing to deliver unwelcome findings and defend them when challenged
- Understands B2B software buyers, especially in marketing technology, revenue tools, sales intelligence or data platforms
- Grounded knowledge of AI and agentic products, enough to separate shipped features from announcements
Qualifications
- Familiarity with tools like Klue, Gong or Dovetail for competitive and research work
- Dealings with Gartner or Forrester analysts
- Work background touching account-based marketing, intent signals, go-to-market intelligence or revenue platforms
- Prior experience creating a competitive intelligence function from scratch
