In the influence and collaboration group, the architect works with product management, engineering and support groups at Elastic on feature requests and defects, scopes opportunities with sales, and coaches fellow consultants.

Responsibilities
- Analyze customer business pain points and technical challenges in complex enterprise environments
- Gather requirements and design Elastic architectures that integrate with other enterprise platforms
- Create and maintain customer roadmaps
- Present complex solutions clearly and persuade audiences to adopt recommended practices
- Plan capacity for mission-critical environments and run audits, upgrades and platform migrations
- Guide customers through the growth of their observability practice and expand use cases
- Feed product feature requests and defects back to engineering, product and support teams
- Scope opportunities with the sales team, assess technical risk, and coach other consultants
Requirements
- A minimum of five years working as a consulting architect, or in senior IT leadership roles
- Experience delivering professional services engagements as a consultant
- Skill in advocating for customers, building relationships, presenting and communicating clearly
- Comfort leading discussions with project sponsors and C-level leaders
- Ability to explain the business value of outcome-based delivery while remaining hands-on
- Technical leadership across project lifecycles
- Practical background deploying Elastic Observability or comparable platforms including Grafana Labs, Sentinel, New Relic, Dynatrace, Datadog and Splunk
- Hands-on experience with on-premises systems and public or private cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP and OpenStack, plus Linux
- Working knowledge of networking, security, containers, serverless, DevOps and infrastructure automation
- Scripting or programming experience in Python, JavaScript, Go, or Chef and Puppet
Qualifications
- Understanding of databases
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science
- Credentials in IT operations, infrastructure, APM, data engineering, ML or data infrastructure
- Deep knowledge of Elasticsearch and Lucene, including the Elastic Certified Engineer certification
- Experience working with pre-sales teams to scope customer needs and with statement of work delivery
- Comfort with both iterative and sequential project methods
- Experience contributing to open-source projects or documentation
- Background as a developer, sysadmin or DevOps practitioner, and with large distributed systems
- Familiarity with information retrieval or analytics, and with Windows, Mac, Linux and Java
- Experience teaching or presenting enterprise infrastructure technology to technical audiences
