Ro is seeking a Principal Product Designer to operate as a senior individual contributor and leadership team member in New York or on a remote basis. This full-time position focuses on transforming the patient journey through a vertically integrated healthcare platform that connects telehealth, pharmacy, diagnostics, and logistics. The role suits an experienced designer who can combine high-level systems thinking with hands-on visual craft to shape digital products that reach millions of users.
As part of the product design group, the incoming professional will spearhead the evolution of Ro's Design System, incorporate AI-assisted development tools, and drive creative direction across vertical growth initiatives. Working alongside engineering, product, marketing, and clinical leaders, the designer will tackle complex challenges from ambiguity to production execution while mentoring senior and staff team members.
Responsibilities
- Raise design quality across high-impact patient experiences through direct contribution and visual craft
- Lead the evolution, vision, and roadmap of the company Design System while partnering with design engineering
- Shape how design systems enable AI-assisted product development using tools like Claude and Figma Make
- Provide creative direction for vertical growth initiatives to introduce prospective patients to the platform and improve conversion
- Codify hands-on product work into reusable systems to generate organization-wide leverage
- Navigate hard design problems from early ambiguity and concept iteration through polished execution
- Mentor senior and staff designers, delivering high-quality critique and expanding team capabilities in storytelling and visual design
- Collaborate with design leadership to define the future aesthetic and behavioral standards of patient interactions
Requirements
- Bring a minimum of 10 years of experience designing and shipping digital products across web and mobile platforms
- Demonstrate exceptional visual and interaction craft with a portfolio highlighting typography, composition, hierarchy, and storytelling
- Operate successfully as both a systems thinker and a hands-on maker
- Possess experience building, evolving, or driving adoption of design systems at scale
- Demonstrate strong conceptual thinking and creative-direction capabilities
- Have prior experience designing consumer-facing applications where brand, storytelling, growth, and conversion are critical
