Job Description
Contra Labs seeks a Senior 3D Designer to join its network of professionals working at the boundary of human creativity and artificial intelligence. The organization collaborates with top AI labs and product companies to enhance tools across video, design, and development by studying how creative professionals work. This engagement serves as an application to join the network for project-based opportunities as they emerge, which generally require five to ten hours of commitment per time, though some assignments may last longer or occasionally become full-time positions.
Selected network members will evaluate artificial intelligence-generated 3D environments, simulations, spatial experiences, and scenes for technical and visual quality. Contributors will supply structured feedback on lighting, materials, composition, asset integration, physical dynamics, and visual coherence. Additional duties include helping establish quality standards, identifying common generation flaws, building reference prototypes, and contributing to research on interactive three-dimensional content generation.
This role suits experienced three-dimensional designers comfortable in fast-paced and experimental environments who can articulate clear, constructive artistic and technical feedback.
Responsibilities
- Assess AI-generated 3D scenes, spatial experiences, interactive environments, and simulations for technical and visual standards
- Deliver structured, clear feedback regarding lighting, materials, scene composition, physical dynamics, interaction, and visual coherence
- Assist in establishing evaluation criteria and quality benchmarks for AI-generated three-dimensional experiences
- Spot frequent failure modes in AI-generated 3D outputs, including broken interactions, physics, poor spatial layout, and inconsistent visual feedback
- Build reference examples, golden outputs, or prototypes showcasing top-tier 3D execution
- Take part in research investigating how artificial intelligence models can generate and comprehend interactive 3D experiences
Requirements
- Provide a portfolio displaying high-quality 3D design, spatial experiences, or interactive environments
- Demonstrate a strong grasp of 3D lighting, composition, materials, visual coherence, and animation
- Possess the ability to communicate technical and creative feedback constructively and clearly
- Show strong 3D design instincts alongside awareness of contemporary visual culture, emerging digital aesthetics, and 3D trends
