Job Description
Life360 operates a popular mobile platform and tracking ecosystem serving over one hundred million monthly active users across more than 180 countries, focused on keeping families connected and secure. The company is seeking a Principal Product Manager for Identity and Trust to lead the strategy and execution for authentication, account creation, session management, and recovery systems. Working within the Foundations services team, this position collaborates closely with engineering, security, data, legal, and customer support departments to protect user accounts against sophisticated threats while maintaining a seamless user experience. The individual in this role will define key performance indicators, design global identity flows, transition away from legacy passwords, and balance robust security measures with accessibility for a diverse consumer base.
This opportunity is suited for an experienced product leader with a deep technical background in cybersecurity, consumer identity, and cross-functional enterprise alignment. Candidates will manage end-to-end product ownership across web, mobile, and partner integrations, establishing modern authentication standards on a global scale. Life360 operates as a remote-first organization across the United States and offers a competitive salary range paired with equity compensation and comprehensive benefits.
Responsibilities
- Define the global strategy, vision, and roadmap for authentication, authorization, registration, session management, and credential lifecycles across mobile, web, and partner integrations.
- Design humane and secure account recovery workflows that quickly restore access to legitimate members while preventing unauthorized entries.
- Collaborate with enterprise security teams to build layered defenses against account takeovers, credential stuffing, phishing, SIM-swaps, and social engineering attacks.
- Lead the transition toward phishing-resistant authentication methods such as passkeys, risk-based step-up verification, and device-bound sessions without disrupting older devices or low-connectivity regions.
- Develop identity frameworks tailored for more than 180 countries, accounting for phone-first behaviors, regional carrier constraints, localization needs, and international regulations.
- Address identity considerations unique to family ecosystems, including minor accounts, age assurance, parental consent, and regulatory compliance like COPPA and GDPR.
- Establish company-wide performance metrics covering account takeover rates, sign-in success, recovery speed, false positives, and passkey adoption.
- Implement telemetry and fraud detection mechanisms to surface user friction and abuse across the identity lifecycle.
- Translate technical security insights and threat models into executive business priorities.
- Partner with growth, subscriptions, and customer care groups to ensure identity operations support all dependent company products.
Requirements
- Possess at least ten years of product management experience, featuring significant tenure at a principal or staff level with cross-functional scope.
- Demonstrate hands-on ownership of consumer identity, authentication, account security, or trust products at scale within a global consumer application.
- Exhibit cybersecurity depth covering threat modeling, account takeover, fraud prevention, multi-factor authentication, passkeys, WebAuthn, OAuth, session management, and credential security.
- Maintain full-stack product ownership capability spanning backend identity services, APIs, and mobile or web user experiences.
- Show a global mindset with past success launching identity workflows across varied countries, regulatory regimes, and device environments.
- Apply working knowledge of compliance frameworks like NIST 800-63, GDPR, CCPA, and COPPA.
- Drive alignment across large matrixed organizations encompassing engineering, security, legal, privacy, and support teams.
- Utilize strong analytical instincts with both quantitative data and qualitative insights to set performance standards and run experiments.
- Communicate technical and security concepts clearly to diverse business audiences.
Qualifications
- Experience managing accounts for minors or implementing age assurance systems.
