Job Description
SGS is seeking a Quality Manager for the SGS Randfontein Facility (Geochem and Affiliates) to manage the facility quality system. This role involves ensuring compliance with ISO 17025:2005 along with high-level and global procedures. The position suits professionals with extensive testing and management system experience who can oversee audits, document control, method validation, and training. Responsibilities include monitoring quality control data, handling customer complaints, coordinating external audits, and adhering to safety and environmental regulations.
Responsibilities
- Operate following the integrity policy and ethical standards of SGS
- Contribute to strategic planning for the quality function across facility sections
- Fulfill the duties of a Quality Manager in accordance with ISO 17025
- Maintain standard operating procedures and documentation for laboratory ISO accreditation
- Monitor and facilitate the method validation process within the testing scope
- Analyze quality control data to spot biases and trends, and establish control limits for reference materials
- Manage external audits, track action items, and address findings
- Examine proficiency testing results and manage non-conforming data
- Oversee and evaluate facility re-assays and coordinate the billing database
- Administer document control and manage changes to the quality system
- Lead root cause analysis for proficiency testing data and handle customer complaints
- Deliver planned quality awareness and system training
- Participate in the continuous improvement program and comply with health, safety, and environmental rules
Requirements
- Grade 12, Matric, or N3 with Science and Mathematics subjects
- Minimum of 8 years of working experience in a testing laboratory environment
- At least 5 years of experience with management systems such as ISO 9000 or ISO 17025
- Proficiency with advanced Microsoft software
- Background in document and report writing
- Understanding of Statistical Quality Control
Qualifications
- BSc, BTech, or National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or Science
- Equivalent laboratory knowledge and skills recognized through Recognition of Prior Learning
- Diploma in an ISO or College Quality Assurance Program
