Job Description
Canonical has an opening for a Regional HR Manager covering EMEA to join its People team on a full-time, remote basis. The company operates in more than 75 countries with over 1,200 people, so its HR function is built to think and act globally. The regional lead reports to the Global Head of HR and helps design a people function that can support continued expansion.
The manager leads the EMEA HR group in delivering accurate, lawful and scalable HR operations, and guides HR matters across the whole employment lifecycle. Areas include talent growth, succession planning, performance reviews, onboarding and culture and engagement programmes. The role also works with senior regional leaders on performance management, org design, employee engagement, pay and workforce planning, and gives people managers guidance on employee relations in several countries.
This is a blend of strategy and hands-on work. The manager analyses data to spot patterns, designs new policies, supports training with people managers, champions diversity, equity and inclusion, leads business-critical HR projects across regions, and represents Canonical's HR approach at company events. Close collaboration with the wider People team is required to build consistent processes across all regions.
Candidates need an excellent academic record, experience leading HR work across regions in a technology company, and people management experience. Practical knowledge of HR practice and employment law across EMEA, skill in handling complex employee relations cases across several legal systems, and experience partnering with executives are essential. Strong business English, a remote-first working background, and readiness to take a few trips a year for internal events are also asked for. Pay depends on location, experience and performance.
