Job Description
Canonical is seeking a Renewals Sales Manager for the Americas to lead a regional renewals team. The post is full-time and remote. The company supplies licensed enterprise software, support, managed offerings, consulting and courses to organisations that run Ubuntu or other open source software in public clouds, private data centres and on connected devices. It has roughly 1,000 staff spread across more than 70 countries and reports annual revenue above USD 250 million.
The manager designs and executes a territory plan that puts outreach and prospecting first, splits territory and accounts among representatives, and singles out new-logo prospects for account-based marketing. They make sure each rep owns a strong plan for existing and priority accounts, track new pipeline created by outreach, local marketing and industry events, and help close deals so the team meets quarterly and annual bookings goals. Partnering with customer success to find expansion opportunities, and keeping pipeline data and forecasts accurate in Salesforce, are also central.
Leadership is at the heart of the job. The manager coaches and mentors reps, sets an example, and keeps the team professional and effective. Each rep is expected to hunt for new business, nurture current relationships, and co-plan account strategy with colleagues and partners. A yearly bookings target applies to the whole team in the territory, and the manager should be comfortable pitching enterprise, open-source, cloud, virtualisation, container and technical products to senior decision-makers.
Candidates should have a record of hitting sales targets and winning accounts, careful planning and reporting habits, and the self-discipline to thrive in a distributed team. Regional travel for customers and industry events, plus international travel twice a year for company gatherings, is part of the post. The posting warns that hiring is slow and that successful applicants may wait three to six months for an offer.
