Job Description

Instacart operates a platform delivering groceries and household essentials while offering earning opportunities for personal shoppers. The company is currently hiring a full-time, remote Retail Lead, Sales Development to manage and scale the expanding Retail SDR team.

This position is designed for a sales professional who can coach early-career team members, refine sales processes, and collaborate cross-functionally to accelerate retailer acquisition. Over the first year, the successful candidate will guide the team to hit quarterly qualified meeting and sales targets, engage with high-value independent retailers, and optimize the sales funnel in a fast-paced transactional environment.

Instacart functions under a Flex First approach, permitting employees to work from home, an office, or other locations, supplemented by regular in-person events. For Canadian applicants, hiring is restricted to candidates residing in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and support a team of Retail SDRs to consistently hit quarterly qualified meeting and sales targets
  • Translate industry trends and business data into coaching strategies and process enhancements
  • Engage directly in sales calls and manage all aspects of the sales cycle for high-value accounts and small business opportunities
  • Refine the sales process, prospecting tools, and collateral to help the team reach independent retailers more efficiently
  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships to streamline retailer acquisition and support business expansion

Requirements

  • Demonstrated history of surpassing sales targets and quotas
  • Background in sales management, or three to four years of experience in sales or business development within the eCommerce sector
  • Track record of mentoring and developing early-career professionals
  • Data-driven and process-oriented approach with proven success in sales funnel optimization
  • Proven ability to implement activity metrics and coach effective cold outreach strategies

Qualifications

  • Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to thrive in cross-functional, high-growth settings
  • Small and medium-sized business sales experience, ideally featuring a retail or eCommerce background
