Job Description
Ethos, a publicly traded life insurance technology company listed on Nasdaq, is hiring a full-time Salesforce Developer to work remotely. The role supports the sales, customer experience and partnership groups, and sits in the Enterprise Systems team with Salesforce admins, analysts, data engineers and product engineers.
The developer would own the full cycle of custom Salesforce applications and integrations: requirements, design, build, testing, deployment and production support. Work areas named in the posting include near-real-time event integrations from the company's product platform, partner APIs that manage agent and partner data, consent and do-not-contact compliance across communication systems, and automation and routing for sales and service teams.
Engineering practice is source-driven and Git-based, with releases moving through automated pipelines rather than large quarterly drops. Expected work includes building event-driven integrations that handle repeated and late messages and recover from failures, creating inbound REST endpoints and outbound callouts, and writing Apex, Lightning Web Components and Flow solutions. The posting emphasizes bulk-safe Apex, least-privilege data access and careful protection of personal and health data, and asks for tests that cover failure cases.
Candidates are expected to have typically five or more years of Salesforce development experience beyond admin and configuration work, or an equivalent record of shipping and maintaining live systems. The posting asks for strong Apex, SOQL, async processing and test automation skills, and the ability to debug Flow and LWC code and articulate when Apex is preferable. It also says the developer should work with the team's AI coding assistants, verifying their output is correct, secure and maintainable.
The posted US base salary range is $96,000 to $169,000. The company says that range reflects base pay only, excluding bonus, equity and benefits, and that individual pay depends on work location, skills, experience and education. Details of US benefits are published on the company's careers site rather than in the posting. Ethos states it is an equal opportunity employer.
Responsibilities
- Set up event pipelines that cope with repeated or delayed messages, recover after errors and leave clear logs for support
- Create inbound REST endpoints and outbound callouts to outside systems
- Improve existing Apex, LWC and Flow solutions and add new ones as needed, moving logic into Apex when scale or testing requires it
- Write bulk-safe Apex that accounts for platform limits, record contention and asynchronous job caps
- Apply sharing rules and field-level security so only the right users and processes can see data
- Ship changes via automated Git pipelines, handle sandboxes and rollback plans, and keep the repository aligned with production
- Triage production problems that span integrations and fix underlying causes
Requirements
- Typically five or more years of Salesforce development work beyond admin and configuration, or equivalent evidence of supporting production systems
- Proficiency in Apex and SOQL, including bulk and async patterns and test automation
- Hands-on work with REST APIs or event-based integrations that must cope with repeats, retries and partial failures
- Competence building and debugging Flow and LWC solutions and articulating when Apex fits best
- Working knowledge of the Salesforce data model, record sharing, field-level access, CLI tooling, version control and automated deployments
- Skill at tracing production problems, reviewing code and clarifying technical trade-offs for non-engineers
- Practice of checking AI-generated code for correctness, security and maintainability
Qualifications
- Background in trigger-handler structures, service layers, selector patterns and dependency injection
- Prior work linking Salesforce to CDPs, contact-center software, marketing software or identity platforms
- Insurance or financial services background, particularly in agent or partner channels
- Consent and privacy compliance knowledge such as TCPA or CCPA
- Salesforce Platform Developer II certification
