Job Description

Figma is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Corporate Accounting team on an on-site basis in Austin. Figma provides a collaborative software platform that assists teams in creating prototypes, translating designs into code, brainstorming, and utilizing AI throughout the design workflow. In this position, the professional will manage essential components of the monthly and quarterly close cycles while designing scalable internal controls, procedures, and policies that align with US GAAP.

This AI-forward position relies on automation tools such as ChatGPT and Claude to streamline traditional accounting workflows rather than depending solely on manual tasks. The opening encompasses two distinct focuses: General and Administrative Expense Accounting, or Sales and Marketing Expense Accounting. The role requires an analytical professional who operates independently, collaborates across departments, and adapts to shifting priorities while meeting strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage month-end and quarter-end close functions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and accruals for assigned accounting areas.
  • Handle accounting duties associated with cash, treasury, payroll, benefits, corporate cards, travel and expenses, intercompany transactions, consolidations, leases, capitalized software, prepaids, fixed assets, intangibles, goodwill, and operating expense allocations.
  • Draft monthly and quarterly flux analyses along with reporting packages.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with business stakeholders by delivering accounting guidance, preparing accruals, and supporting various initiatives.
  • Utilize artificial intelligence applications to automate manual workflows, discover process enhancements, and accelerate closing cycles.
  • Participate in quarterly reviews, assist with the annual financial audit, and prepare schedules for audit inquiries.
  • Contribute to SOX compliance efforts and help maintain a robust internal control framework.
  • Assist with enterprise system integrations and take on broader responsibilities as the accounting team expands.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience featuring hands-on ownership of the month-end close cycle.
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP principles and accrual accounting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with NetSuite or similar ERP platforms while incorporating AI and automation tools.
  • Proven capability to build cross-functional partnerships and communicate clearly with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Advanced Excel competencies, including complex formulas and Power Query, to generate audit-ready analyses.

Qualifications

  • 4 or more years of experience working inside a public accounting firm or a high-growth SaaS enterprise.
  • Prior background operating within public company and SOX control environments.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Numeric, NetSuite, Zip, Ramp, Navan, and related accounting software.
  • Holding a Certified Public Accountant designation or actively pursuing CPA candidacy.

Core Skills

Benefits

  • Equity grants in the company
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance coverage
  • Retirement plans featuring employer contributions
  • Paid parental leave alongside reproductive and family planning support
  • Mental health and wellness programs
  • Paid time off, holidays, and paid sick leave
