Job Description
American Healthtech, a PointClickCare Company, is hiring a Senior AI Architect to lead the technical direction of its AI Platform. PointClickCare is a founder-led, privately held health technology firm that serves over 30,000 provider organizations with long-term and post-acute care datasets and integrated partners. In this position, the selected professional will own the architecture enabling software engineers to build AI agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, and generative AI solutions on a shared platform. This is an enabling technical leadership role focused on creating foundational infrastructure, reference patterns, guardrails, and paved-road templates rather than direct product ownership. The role requires traveling to the Mississauga and/or Salt Lake City offices for events such as onboarding, team activities, and semi-annual or annual team meetings. Compensation includes a base salary between USD 183,000 and 229,000 per year, plus a bonus and benefits package.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve the architecture of the AI Platform including the agentic runtime, MCP integration layer, model gateway, and evaluation and observability services
- Guide the AI Engineering team through architectural decisions, design reviews, and hands-on technical mentorship
- Collaborate with product teams to review roadmaps, translate upcoming AI capabilities into architectural requirements, and author architecture documents and decision records
- Enable software engineers to build AI agents, MCP servers, and solutions by codifying reference architectures, reusable patterns, and paved-road templates
- Establish platform standards for security, responsible AI, evaluation, and observability while running architectural review processes
Requirements
- 12 or more years of software engineering and platform architecture experience with deep cloud expertise, preferably in Azure
- At least 5 years of experience focused on AI and ML infrastructure and generative AI solutions at scale
- Hands-on expertise with agentic systems such as agent frameworks, multi-agent orchestration, MCP, tool use, retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, and production LLMOps
- Proven track record in designing internal platforms utilized by other engineering teams, including developer experience, APIs, SDKs, and self-serve patterns
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality architecture documents and decision records while communicating design trade-offs to engineering and product audiences
Qualifications
- Experience with the Azure AI stack including Azure OpenAI, Azure Kubernetes Service, and Azure API Management
- Experience with the Databricks lakehouse including Unity Catalog and model serving
- Background in healthcare technology platforms or clinical workflows
- Experience guiding engineering teams as a senior architect or technical lead within a platform organization
- Expertise in advanced agentic patterns, model fine-tuning pipelines, AI governance, and model risk management in regulated environments
