WorkWave is hiring a Senior AI Engineer, Agentic Platform to lead the development of its in-product assistant, AskWaive. This role focuses on enhancing the quality, coverage, and overall user experience of the agentic platform, ensuring customers gain actionable insights and improved job performance. The employer seeks a product-focused professional who will oversee the entire lifecycle of agent engineering, from initial customer need to deployment, testing, and continuous operation.
The successful candidate will build production agents and their underlying tools utilizing Amazon Bedrock and Bedrock AgentCore, integrating capabilities across serving layers and semantic layers. Responsibilities include designing multi-step workflows, measuring groundedness and hallucination rates, establishing CI regression gates, and optimizing the serving path regarding latency, cost, and guardrails. WorkWave operates in a collaborative environment utilizing coding agents, requiring leadership in setting direction, verifying output, and driving necessary data or infrastructure changes.
Candidates must possess at least five years of experience building production software or data-intensive systems in Python, including practical deployment of at least one LLM or agent feature. Expertise in AWS, agent orchestration, retrieval over business data, and generative evaluation loops is essential. This position is UK-based with occasional collaborative team meetups, and applicants are required to hold the legal right to work in the UK.
Responsibilities
- Build production agents and associated tools utilizing Amazon Bedrock and Bedrock AgentCore
- Transform semantic layers and service APIs into functional endpoints and tools for agent usage
- Design and implement retrieval systems, multi-step workflows, and action-taking mechanisms
- Develop evaluation harnesses featuring labeled test sets, groundedness metrics, hallucination rates, and CI regression gates
- Manage the serving path encompassing MCP endpoints, latency, cost per response, caching, and runtime guardrails
- Instrument system tracing to diagnose failure modes and drive iterative product fixes
- Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams to determine appropriate agent capabilities and direct platform improvements
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building production software or data-intensive systems used by real customers
- Strong Python programming skills, including at least one shipped LLM or agent feature
- Hands-on AWS experience, specifically with Amazon Bedrock and Bedrock AgentCore
- Expertise in agent orchestration, tool and function design, context assembly, and multi-step workflows
- Experience building retrieval systems over real business data with the ability to debug context selection
- Familiarity with SQL and metric fluency to verify agent outputs
- Experience building or owning evaluation loops for generative systems, including regression gates
- Demonstrated ability to quantify and report agent impact on user adoption, task success, and decision quality
- Must currently possess the legal right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship
Qualifications
- Experience with LLM observability tooling such as Langfuse, LangSmith, or Arize
- Background in semantic layer or metrics-layer design including Ossie or dbt
- Prior domain experience in field-service, logistics, or other operational SaaS environments
- Previous experience as a senior or lead engineer responsible for guiding technical direction
