Typeform operates a digital form builder that assists more than 150,000 businesses in gathering data through engaging surveys, quizzes, and forms. The company is currently hiring a Senior AI Engineer to join its fully remote team, specifically looking for candidates located within the Eastern Time zone of the United States. In this position, the professional will focus on building and advancing the artificial intelligence capabilities behind Research Flow and other company products.
This is a hands-on engineering position requiring close collaboration with product managers, software engineers, data scientists, and analytics personnel. The individual selected will guide AI capabilities from the initial experimentation phase through to full production, designing systems that utilize machine learning, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic workflows. Responsibilities include creating scalable services, automating evaluations, establishing technical standards, and ensuring system performance, reliability, and security.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy generative AI capabilities across company products with a primary focus on Research Flow
- Develop applications utilizing large language models, vector search, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic systems
- Construct services and application programming interfaces enabling product teams to integrate artificial intelligence into customer experiences
- Operate machine learning services and workflows leveraging Python, Docker, Kubernetes, and Amazon Web Services
- Build reliable processing pipelines using technologies such as Kafka and Airflow
- Design architectural solutions employing vector databases for retrieval, personalization, and semantic search
- Manage model versions, registries, deployments, and experiments using MLflow
- Construct automated evaluation frameworks and benchmarks to measure accuracy, relevance, latency, fairness, and cost
- Monitor production artificial intelligence systems to enhance quality, performance, and cost efficiency
- Establish technical standards, reusable patterns, and safety safeguards to protect customer data
- Partner with cross-functional product, engineering, and data teams to align technical initiatives with business requirements
Requirements
- At least four years of professional background creating and deploying machine learning or artificial intelligence systems in production environments
- Strong software engineering capabilities and proficiency in Python
- Experience constructing production services utilizing Python frameworks such as FastAPI
- Practical background developing generative AI applications with large language models, tool use, or agentic systems
- Familiarity with frameworks like PyTorch, LangChain, or LangGraph
- Understanding of enterprise retrieval-augmented generation systems covering chunking, embeddings, retrieval, reranking, and monitoring
- Experience building automated evaluations for generative AI applications
- Familiarity with Amazon Web Services, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and continuous integration practices
- Experience utilizing services such as Amazon SageMaker or Amazon Bedrock
- Background using Kafka, vector databases, or similar technologies for high dimensional data processing
- Experience managing machine learning workflows with MLflow
- Familiarity monitoring production systems via tools like Datadog or OpenSearch
- Strong communication skills and experience collaborating across product and data disciplines
Qualifications
- Experience working in a business-to-business software-as-a-service product company
- Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow or Argo Workflows
- Experience with SQL, Spark, Snowflake, or alternative data processing technologies
- Background building systems that combine structured data, unstructured data, and generative AI
- Experience addressing artificial intelligence security, privacy, responsible AI practices, prompt injection protection, or data leakage prevention
- Experience optimizing the latency and cost of artificial intelligence systems operating at scale
