Spotify is hiring a Senior C++/iOS Engineer for the Baldur squad within User Platform. This group manages the session management and delegated authorization systems that issue, use, and handle access tokens for hundreds of millions of users across desktop and mobile experiences, partner integrations, and platform teams. The position is based out of London or Stockholm with a flexible working arrangement that mixes home working with in-person meetings.
In this role, the engineer will work with native Swift on iOS and shared C++ libraries to shape secure access technology. Responsibilities include building delegated authorization workflows, integrating with core services, and improving on-device credential storage. This role suits professionals with a systems-thinking mindset who enjoy solving complex architectural challenges across both client and backend technologies for large-scale distributed systems.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate within an autonomous engineering squad focused on session management and delegated authorization platforms
- Design and evolve critical infrastructure for Spotify applications and partner integrations using native Swift on iOS and shared C++ libraries
- Develop performant and reliable delegated authorization flows including token issuance, revocation, refresh, and session lifecycle management
- Partner with backend and client engineers to connect with token issuance, client registration, core authorization services, and token revocation
- Enhance secure on-device credential and access token storage while maintaining performance and reliability
- Contribute to authorization frameworks and platform implementations to support new product experiences
- Drive technical improvements and help shape the long-term direction of authorization and session management
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in C++
- Experience building native iOS applications in Swift, or enthusiasm to develop Swift expertise while using C++ skills
- Experience designing, maintaining, or building security-sensitive systems like authentication, authorization, credential storage, or token management
- Solid understanding of software architecture, modern authorization protocols including OAuth 2.0, and secure system design
- Familiarity with shared cross-platform codebases and the interaction between native platform layers and common C++ libraries
