Spotify seeks a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join its Platform division, which builds the infrastructure, tooling, and frameworks powering the company's global expansion. The Platform group develops Groove, an internal platform utilized by thousands of employees for initiative tracking, dependency management, collaborative planning, and coordinating work across the organization. This position suits an experienced developer who wants to build thoughtful internal tools that minimize friction and help colleagues perform effectively.
In this role, the engineer will build and evolve the Groove platform using React, TypeScript, Java, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). Responsibilities include designing features such as planning workflows, ensuring production reliability through testing and monitoring, participating in an on-call rotation, and improving frontend and backend performance. The role also involves defining system architecture, guiding complex technical solutions from ambiguous requirements to production, mentoring teammates, and utilizing AI-assisted development tools responsibly.

Responsibilities
- Build and evolve the Groove fullstack platform supporting company-wide planning, collaboration, and execution
- Design and deliver initiative tracking, dependency management, and planning workflow features
- Develop end-to-end solutions using React, TypeScript, Java, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and Google Kubernetes Engine
- Partner with product managers and designers to create intuitive experiences aligned with user needs
- Ensure production reliability via testing, monitoring, and continuous improvement
- Participate in an on-call rotation to address production incidents
- Enhance the performance, scalability, and maintainability of frontend and backend systems
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to boost productivity while preserving quality and correctness
- Lead the design and delivery of complex, high-impact features across the technology stack
- Take ownership of problems from ambiguous requirements to production-ready solutions
- Help define and evolve architecture spanning frontend, backend, and infrastructure
- Mentor engineers and help elevate the technical standards of the team
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building scalable fullstack applications in production environments
- Familiarity with frontend and backend technologies and how they integrate into reliable products
- Experience with APIs, distributed systems, and modern web application architecture
- Ability to take ownership of software from implementation through production health and iterative improvements
- Experience designing systems and influencing technical direction
- Clear communication skills through documentation and collaboration within distributed teams
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code
- Skill in using AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully and validating outputs with engineering judgment
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability
