In this position, the professional will create and manage secure, scalable data architecture that drives campaign delivery, eligibility rules, audience targeting, preferences, consent collection, and operational tracking. Success during the first year involves building dependable Databricks pipelines, enhancing data observability, and guiding cross-functional technical projects.
This opportunity is suited for a hands-on engineer who enjoys tackling ambiguous technical challenges and taking ownership of production environments. The ideal candidate balances user experience, privacy regulations, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Please note that this is a remote role that must be performed from within India, with options for candidates currently based there or willing to relocate to India.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and creation of scalable data models, data contracts, data lineage, and ownership frameworks for member communications
- Direct complex data engineering projects independently from technical requirements through production launch
- Build and optimize data pipelines and integrations utilizing Databricks, Apache Spark, PySpark, Spark SQL, Delta Lake, and SQL
- Construct reliable mechanisms for data-loading, reconciliation, retries, idempotency, recovery, and deployments
- Establish data quality governance, automated validation, alerts, dashboards, and runbooks
- Collaborate with privacy, compliance, risk, and security teams to handle sensitive member information and consent controls
- Provide technical mentorship through code reviews, root cause investigations, and durable fixes
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to plan releases, monitor pipeline performance, and utilize AI tools to improve efficiency
Requirements
- At least six years of professional experience in data engineering focusing on data architecture, platforms, pipelines, and lakehouse or database management
- Strong proficiency in Python, PySpark, and SQL
- Extensive hands-on expertise with Databricks, Apache Spark, Spark SQL, Delta Lake, workflow orchestration, CI/CD, and Git-based workflows
- Experience implementing automated testing, data quality observability, alerting, lineage, cloud services especially AWS, secure access controls, and encryption
- Familiarity with Agile work environments
Qualifications
- Bachelor or master degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline
- Professional background within financial services, lending, customer communications, marketing technology, or other regulated industries
- Familiarity with Unity Catalog or similar data governance tools
- Experience writing code in Java or Scala
- Practical experience using artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT or Copilot to boost engineering productivity and troubleshooting
