Job Description
NPR is seeking a Senior Data Insights Analyst to support a new, leaner, audience-focused mobile app that will serve NPR and partner stations in several formats. NPR creates news, information and music programming and works alongside hundreds of member stations across the country. The analyst leads experiments and advanced product analytics for the app and supplies the data work that guides product and audience decisions.
Advanced SQL sits at the heart of the job. The analyst writes and reviews complex queries against unaggregated event exports, including GA4 and Firebase data in BigQuery, and builds cohort, behavior and retention analyses. The role sets quality standards for SQL across the team, trains colleagues on query tuning, and designs A/B tests from start to finish aimed at growing weekly reach and deepening listening. Experiments run on tools such as Optimizely, and results are turned into recommendations for product leads, newsroom leaders and partner stations.
The posting asks for at least five years of advanced SQL work and five years in mobile and web analytics, plus two years designing experiments with enterprise platforms. Looker or Tableau reporting skill, spreadsheet modeling and the ability to brief non-technical audiences are required, as is experience coaching others. R or Python for statistical modeling is a plus. The job is classified as full-time and exempt, and it is union-represented, with NABET-CWA DMU as the bargaining unit. The anticipated U.S. salary range runs from $105,435 to $116,381 (rounded to the dollar), plus benefits. Applications close at 5:00 p.m. Eastern on October 23, 2026.
The role is remote-permitted and based out of NPR's Washington, D.C. office. The person may work from an approved U.S. location, come into a NPR facility when desks are available, or split time between both, and occasional travel may be required.
