The company is currently hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to direct a squad focused on developing external partner-facing platforms and backend capabilities. This position reports directly to a Director of Engineering and operates within a complex, cross-functional domain.
The role suits a people-first technical leader capable of navigating high-ambiguity environments and coordinating across multiple systems and stakeholder groups. In this position, you will build and mentor a high-performing engineering unit, set multi-quarter strategies alongside Product, Design, and Business Development, and establish operational models that promote long-term scalability. You will balance immediate partner deliverables with durable architectural standards, emphasizing secure and reliable API products. Candidates will guide engineering craft, oversee release processes, and design decision-making frameworks that streamline delivery without adding unnecessary bureaucracy. Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing engineering squad while shaping group-level operating models
- Partner with Product, Design, Business Development, and technical leaders to define multi-quarter strategies and roadmaps
- Translate business and partner needs into clear execution priorities, balancing short-term delivery with long-term platform health
- Coordinate work and align ownership across platform, data, client, and external engineering teams
- Identify and resolve cross-team dependencies, architectural constraints, and delivery risks early
- Maintain high standards for engineering craft across secure, reliable, and scalable API products
- Utilize partner feedback, operational metrics, and product outcomes to guide investment decisions
- Coach engineers and emerging leaders through feedback, delegation, and growth opportunities
- Hire and onboard new engineering talent while fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture
- Communicate strategy, progress, risks, and trade-offs clearly to executive and business stakeholders
Requirements
- Over 6 years of professional software engineering experience
- At least 4 years of experience leading engineering teams and developing engineers at multiple levels
- Demonstrated history of delivering reliable customer-facing products while coordinating across multiple teams and stakeholders
- Experience shaping multi-quarter strategy and turning ambiguous goals into measurable outcomes
- Background in building or operating external developer platforms, integrations, or distributed backend systems
- Strong technical judgment in backend systems or API design
- Familiarity with API product considerations including authentication, versioning, documentation, and reliability
- Demonstrated success in building inclusive teams and managing engineering performance
Qualifications
- Experience working directly with third-party developers, strategic partners, or platform ecosystems
- Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, Redis, or PostgreSQL
