Job Description
Elastic, known as the Search AI Company, operates globally to help organizations transform structured and unstructured data into real-time insights through cloud-based solutions spanning search, security, and observability. More than half of Fortune 500 companies utilize the Elastic Search AI Platform to drive results.
The organization is currently hiring a Senior Java Engineer to join the Elasticsearch Security team. This position involves shaping the architecture and design of core security features, including authorization, authentication, and tenant isolation, alongside engineering and product leaders.
This role suits an experienced software engineer with a strong background in distributed systems and Java internals who wants to build high-performance security at scale. Responsibilities span planning, technical design, and execution for major security components, driving vulnerability management initiatives, and applying cryptography to real-world scenarios. Candidates should bring deep knowledge of JVM memory management, concurrency, distributed systems security, and edge identity protocols. Experience using AI tools for development acceleration and debugging is also required.
Compensation for this position is base salary only, with a typical starting range between 307,800 zł and 486,900 zł PLN. Elastic offers inclusive benefits, health coverage, parental leave, charitable donation matching, and volunteer hours.

- Apply cryptographic solutions to resolve genuine customer use cases
- Ensure robust data isolation across shared infrastructure supporting disparate customers
- Monitor and apply industry advancements in security, identity management, cryptography, and data access management
- Collaborate across teams to embed security into new customer features from the start
- Drive vulnerability management by working with the InfoSec team to assess and remediate risks
- Leverage AI-driven tools to automate vulnerability triage, prioritization, and preliminary investigation
Requirements
- Deep knowledge of Java internals and JVM memory management with an understanding of concurrency models
- Ability to write high-performance, thread-safe, and lock-free code within large open-source or enterprise codebases
- Experience building scalable, performant authorization systems under high concurrency and large permission sets
- Solid comprehension of distributed systems security, including node-to-node mutual trust and zero-trust transport
- Deep knowledge of edge identity protocols such as OAuth 2.0 and SAML
- Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development, debug complex systems, and optimize code
- Ability to collaborate across functions and adapt to changing business priorities
- Capacity to work autonomously in a distributed team utilizing asynchronous and transparent communication
Qualifications
- Knowledge of cipher suites, TLS handshakes, and PKI certificate lifecycle management
- Familiarity with cryptographic methods regarding memory usage and delays
- Awareness of Post-Quantum Cryptography implications and readiness to support service migration
- Hands-on experience mapping engine-level technical controls to FedRAMP, FIPS 140, and SOC 2 requirements
- Prior experience working on the internals of a data store or search engine
