Canonical is seeking a Senior Jira Administrator to join its Commercial Systems team. As the publisher of Ubuntu, Canonical provides open-source software and operating systems utilized globally across public clouds, data science, artificial intelligence, IoT, and engineering initiatives. The organization operates as a distributed enterprise with over 1,200 colleagues spanning more than 80 countries, engaging in remote work environments complemented by regular in-person team gatherings.
In this role, the selected candidate will oversee Atlassian Jira Cloud operations within the Commercial Systems department, which manages various SaaS solutions including Salesforce, NetSuite, Greenhouse, and Google Workspace to support dependable data workflows and automated business processes. The position focuses on maintaining high engineering standards, executing thorough documentation practices, and managing stakeholder requests to empower technical and non-technical business units alike.
Responsibilities
- Manage Atlassian Jira Cloud across the organization
- Design, document, and execute processes and automation within Jira
- Build, document, and maintain integrations connecting Jira with the data warehouse
- Develop analytical dashboards to support data-driven decision making for stakeholders
- Create scaling learning resources for users
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and support departments worldwide
- Take ownership of critical escalations and resolve them promptly
Requirements
- Exceptional academic track record covering both high school and university levels
- Previous experience acting as an administrator for Atlassian Jira and its ecosystem
- Familiarity with standard Jira usage patterns for technical and non-technical departments
- Software development experience utilizing Python
- Professional written and spoken English proficiency
- Interpersonal skills characterized by curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
- Ability to work effectively in a fully remote setup and collaborate globally
- Capability to travel internationally twice per year for up to two weeks at a time
