Striveworks seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer specializing in Agentic Systems to join its remote or hybrid team. The company focuses on building trustworthy artificial intelligence solutions that maintain performance and manage data drift for complex real-world use cases, particularly addressing challenges faced by federal programs. In this position, the professional will act as a primary contributor to both client-led projects and core offerings.

The person in this role will collaborate directly with software developers, data scientists, DevOps specialists, and clients to construct reliable AI applications and coordinate intricate agentic pipelines. Responsibilities include building machine learning capabilities, refining the Chariot operations platform, and evaluating system safety and effectiveness. Candidates will handle mission-critical implementations and utilize insights from direct user interactions to steer future product development.

This position is well-suited for a software and machine learning practitioner who values mutual respect, honesty, personal accountability, and meaningful ownership of team results. The role offers a fully remote setup or a hybrid option based at the Austin, Texas office, alongside a requirement for up to 20 percent travel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop machine learning solutions and orchestrate complex data and agentic workflows
  • Contribute to both customer-driven projects and enduring company products
  • Collaborate directly with customers, data scientists, software engineers, and DevOps engineers
  • Build reliable and effective AI systems across models, agents, tools, and workflows
  • Analyze and improve the performance and usability of AI systems
  • Inform platform improvements and expand capabilities through mission-critical deployments and direct customer contact

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, machine learning, or a related discipline
  • 6 or more years of relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrated experience delivering data-centric systems such as ETL pipelines, data cleaning, and production analytics
  • Experience designing, building, evaluating, and optimizing LLM-powered agents and agentic workflows
  • Experience integrating AI systems with external tools, APIs, MCP servers, and enterprise data sources
  • Experience developing evaluation approaches and frameworks to measure agent performance, reliability, and safety
  • Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation, tool use, planning, and multi-agent architectures
  • Proficiency in Python and machine learning libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals including algorithms, data structures, and design patterns
  • Proficiency in at least one systems programming language such as Go, Rust, C++, Java, or Scala
  • Proficiency with modern software engineering tools and processes including Agile, version control, CI/CD, and debugging
  • Active Secret or higher US security clearance and US citizenship
  • Ability to travel up to 20 percent of the time

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in data science, machine learning, computer science, or a related discipline
  • Knowledge of client-server architectures and design patterns like asynchronous programming, REST, GraphQL, React, Vue, and Angular
  • Experience implementing and deploying software into containerized or cloud environments like Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and major cloud architectures
  • Experience with unstructured data types including imagery, full-motion video, text, acoustic, sonar, RF, and telemetry signals
  • Experience defining, scoping, planning, and delivering complex technical solutions
  • Experience leading a small team
  • Experience delivering technology solutions in secure government environments
