This position functions as a player-coach role involving both technical direction and personnel management. The successful candidate will guide a group of ten to twelve senior and Staff machine learning engineers, including participation in hands-on technical work. Responsibilities include defining strategy for content understanding problems involving audio, video, and text, delivering priority company projects, and integrating AI tools into daily engineering workflows.
The role requires deep machine learning knowledge with Staff-level technical judgment, experience in recommender systems, natural language processing, and audio or music content understanding, alongside a background in leading engineering teams through complex initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor, and expand a team of ten or more senior and Staff machine learning engineers.
- Formulate technical and team strategies for multiple content understanding challenges.
- Drive the execution of high-priority corporate projects to achieve measurable results for users.
- Maintain technical involvement by reviewing architectural designs, directing modeling decisions, and contributing hands-on work.
- Establish practical approaches for implementing AI tools to enhance daily engineering productivity.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, research, design, and engineering leaders to coordinate priorities.
