Vultr seeks a Senior Product Manager to spearhead the Platform product suite, encompassing the essential developer tools, control plane features, and foundational capabilities that let users govern, automate, manage, and provision infrastructure. Operating within a prominent, fast-expanding technology firm, the incumbent will oversee comprehensive developer surfaces like consoles, REST APIs, SDKs, CLIs, and Terraform providers, alongside account management features such as billing, IAM, audit logs, and support ticketing. The organization operates as a privately-held cloud infrastructure provider boasting dozens of global data center locations and serving extensive clientele across numerous countries. This position requires close collaboration with security, storage, network, compute, and artificial intelligence departments to guarantee that every infrastructure offering is intuitive, programmable, and governed from inception. Candidates should possess strong technical fluency in API design, developer experience, and platform engineering to deliver infrastructure tools that are frictionless for both enterprise adopters and digital-native builders.
Responsibilities
- Manage the complete end-to-end product roadmap for the Platform suite, covering developer surfaces and account-level capabilities.
- Formulate the organization's developer experience and platform strategy to match reliability objectives, infrastructure roadmaps, and customer needs.
- Drive consistency and completeness across customer-facing platform touchpoints including console UIs, SDKs, CLIs, and APIs.
- Handle the API lifecycle as a product by defining authentication flows, rate limits, pagination, deprecation policies, and versioning strategies.
- Direct the web-based control plane experience of the console in partnership with design and frontend engineering teams.
- Maintain infrastructure-as-code and programmatic tooling such as the Terraform provider, SDKs, and CLI.
- Oversee governance and account management surfaces like audit logs, sub-accounts, billing, IAM, and admin tooling.
- Manage daily operational product surfaces including startup scripts, support tickets, custom images, regions, instance templates, and SSH keys.
- Collaborate closely with engineering on technical decisions concerning caching strategies, API design, rate limiting, and frontend performance.
- Establish and track metrics related to platform health, including API latency and availability, error rates, developer satisfaction, and task completion rates.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of product management experience working with API products, developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, or infrastructure-as-code.
- Demonstrated background in designing, shipping, or maintaining developer tools, APIs, CLIs, or SDKs at scale.
- Prior experience defining strategies and roadmaps for developer-facing or platform products.
- Familiarity with cloud account management and governance features like sub-accounts, billing, audit logging, and enterprise access control systems.
- Technical aptitude to collaborate with engineering on rate limiting, authentication flows, SDK architecture, and API design.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code solutions such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with cloud provider platforms including GCP, AWS, Azure, DigitalOcean, or Linode.
- Experience managing the complete API lifecycle, covering backward compatibility, versioning, and developer communication.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey intricate technical information to diverse audiences.
