Job Description
Ebury is seeking a Senior Security Engineering Manager to join its team in London. Founded in 2009, Ebury is a financial technology enterprise providing cross-border services such as international payments, foreign exchange risk management, and lending to small and medium-sized enterprises through a unified digital platform. Supported by Banco Santander and recognized as one of Europe's fast-growing companies, the firm operates with a workforce exceeding 1,700 professionals across numerous global offices.
In this role, the selected leader will oversee a distributed group of security engineers focusing on core technical domains like cloud security, software development, and penetration testing. The position centers on engineering challenges rather than governance, risk, and compliance, desktop security, or incident response. Responsibilities include guiding vulnerability management, artificial intelligence threat modeling, secure software development lifecycles, and cloud infrastructure hardening.
This opportunity suits an experienced professional who possesses a background in software or security engineering and has transitioned into management while maintaining technical depth. Candidates should be comfortable working within regulated financial environments, communicating data-backed metrics to executives, and balancing robust security controls with delivery speed.
Responsibilities
- Manage, recruit, and mentor a global team of security engineers
- Define and implement high-level security architecture across existing systems and new projects
- Collaborate with software and platform leadership to integrate security requirements into product roadmaps and sprint cycles
- Conduct architecture design reviews, review critical code, and make final decisions on complex technical security trade-offs
- Deliver measurable, data-backed metrics and reporting on technical security posture to executive stakeholders
- Define and scale secure software development lifecycle strategies, incorporating automated security testing into CI/CD pipelines
- Institutionalize continuous threat modeling and design guardrails for agentic software development and AI-assisted workflows
- Direct the end-to-end vulnerability management programme, including continuous discovery, triage, and remediation SLAs
- Direct identity and access management architecture across multi-cloud infrastructure and customer-facing microservices
- Collaborate with platform engineering to define security guardrails on AWS and GCP
Requirements
- 8+ years of total experience across software engineering, platform engineering, or security engineering
- 3+ years of direct experience managing engineering teams
- Demonstrated track record of designing, building, and running security controls at scale across public clouds and container orchestration systems
- Hands-on mastery of secure coding practices, modern DevSecOps integration, threat modeling, and federated identity protocols
- Professional experience within regulated financial services, fintech, or payment processing environments
- Practical understanding of security frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and CIS benchmarks
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English
- Proven success in leading remote or distributed teams across multiple geographies
Qualifications
- Experience dual-running or migrating workloads across both AWS and GCP
- Hands-on experience operationalizing large language model security models or agentic automation in software engineering
- Industry certifications reflecting broad architecture and offensive depth such as CISSP, CISM, OSCP, or hyperscaler security specialties
