PointClickCare is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer for a full-time, remote position. The employer is a founder-led, privately held health technology company offering a platform serving over 30,000 provider organizations, backed by the largest long-term and post-acute care dataset and a partner marketplace. The company is recognized as a top private cloud company by Forbes and provides a collaborative environment utilizing AI tools in daily workflows.
This role offers technical leadership to an expanding team applying software engineering methodologies to large-scale operations. Professionals in this position will design operational architectures, track service level objectives, and collaborate with feature development teams to improve application efficiency and resiliency. While the role is remote, travel to company offices in Mississauga or Salt Lake City is required for specific events such as onboarding, team gatherings, and semi-annual or annual meetings.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for a team applying software engineering practices to large-scale operations
- Monitor and report on service level objectives while establishing performance indicators with product and business owners
- Design operational solutions to increase automation, repeatability, and consistency for application management
- Create and maintain monitoring processes to improve visibility into application performance and business metrics
- Test infrastructure and application resiliency continuously under different error conditions
- Partner with security engineers to formulate plans and automation for responding to vulnerabilities and risks
- Provide guidance to software development to enhance resiliency, efficiency, performance, and cost management
- Establish and communicate standard processes to support the long-term sustainability of operational tasks
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, MIS, or a related discipline
- Prior software development or architecture experience
- Hands-on background in a DevOps or System Administration capacity
- Experience building and supporting cloud-based solutions
- Background supporting mission-critical applications in a production environment
- Proficiency in at least one of the following: C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl, or Ruby
- Experience with data structures, algorithms, complexity analysis, and software design
- Experience working with deployment automation and configuration management tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
- Experience administering both Linux and Windows machines in operations
- Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle with QA and beta environment experience
- Understanding of Agile software development methodology and standard production practices like change management
Qualifications
- Experience working with Azure cloud infrastructure and services
- Experience with container and virtualization solutions such as Kubernetes, Docker, and ECS
- Troubleshooting versatility across hosting technologies, web server platforms, operating systems, and network components
- Knowledge of Linux internals, including compiling kernels, tracing syscalls, and understanding TCP
- Contributions to or knowledge of open-source software
- Familiarity with Generative AI code assistants and model capabilities
