Job Description

Work Truck Solutions is a platform for the commercial vehicle industry that links vehicle makers (OEMs), upfitters, dealers and fleet purchasers. It digitizes chassis and upfit inventory and streamlines the supply chain so dealers can sell commercial trucks more effectively. The company describes itself as profitable and growing.

This senior, hands-on, remote role is for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test. The position sits on the Platform team in Engineering and reports to the VP of Engineering. The engineer owns end-to-end test strategy for the dealer software, back-office tools and the Comvoy.com site. The company is moving to a model in which AI agents write much of the code under human review, so this role exists to make sure tests catch the mistakes those agents make.

Key duties include deciding which tests belong at each layer, tracking quality indicators like test coverage, flake frequency, run duration and escaped defects, leading the architecture of the Playwright TypeScript framework, using AI coding tools to write and repair tests, removing tests that do not earn their place, mentoring QA engineers, and working with platform engineers on CI/CD gates. The starting pay range is $142,000 to $170,000 per year, and candidates in California, Texas and Florida are given preference.

Responsibilities

  • Set the automated test strategy and decide which layer, unit, API or end to end, each check belongs in
  • Track and report quality indicators: test coverage, flake frequency, run duration and escaped defects
  • Decide what a test must earn to stay in the suite, and remove low-value tests, including AI-generated ones
  • Lead the architecture of the TypeScript Playwright framework, including fixtures, page objects, test data and parallel runs
  • Use AI coding agents to write, convert, triage and repair tests, and define how AI-written tests get reviewed
  • Pilot agentic testing approaches and keep only what works
  • Mentor QA engineers through pairing, code review and teaching
  • Work with platform engineers so the right tests run at the right CI/CD stage

Requirements

  • Seven-plus years building test automation or working as an SDET, including ownership of a framework adopted by an entire team
  • Real-world work with Playwright and TypeScript in production
  • A clear record of judging test value and shrinking a bloated suite
  • Hands-on AI experience with coding agents, with specific examples of tests or frameworks built with AI
  • A track record of mentoring test engineers
  • Proficiency in more than one language, including JavaScript or TypeScript and a backend language such as C#
  • Experience testing REST APIs and handling test data inside SQL databases
  • Experience running suites in CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
  • Strong Git workflow with branching, pull requests and code review

Qualifications

  • MSTest or NUnit for .NET testing, or Vitest for frontend unit tests
  • Work on SvelteKit or React front ends
  • Experience with Azure
  • Hands-on time checking LLM-driven features or writing evaluation suites for model outputs
  • Experience with speed, a11y or visual-diff testing

Core Skills

Benefits

  • Work that reshapes how an industry operates
  • Pay that competes in the market, with a weekday-only schedule
  • Medical, dental, 401(k) and free life coverage
  • Vacation days and holidays with pay
  • Schedule flexibility, at the manager's call
