Job Description

Work Truck Solutions builds software for the commercial truck market. It digitizes chassis and upfit inventory and streamlines the supply chain that links manufacturers, upfit shops, dealers and fleet purchasers. This remote Staff Software Engineer role is the senior individual contributor track in engineering. The person reports to the VP of Engineering and works alongside a team of four to five engineers.

The job is backend focused, mostly in .NET and SQL Server, with enough frontend skill to carry a feature from start to finish. The posting describes a staff-level scope: setting technical direction across teams, making architecture calls, taking ambiguous high-impact work from start to finish, writing specifications, and raising standards through review and mentorship. Heavy weight falls on AI-assisted development. The engineer would build and keep up the skills, agents, guidance and context files that help the team use AI coding tools, set the rules for reviewing and testing code that agents write, and coach others in these practices.

Required experience includes deep familiarity with .NET (C#, .NET Core and the ASP.NET Web API stack) plus SQL Server, plus hands-on AI development process work on a real codebase. Experience with caching, asynchronous processing, event-driven design, observability and security basics such as JWT, OAuth and RBAC is also sought. The starting pay range is $180,000 to $230,000 per year. The company does not offer H-1B visa sponsorship, and candidates in California, Texas and Florida get preference.

Responsibilities

  • Own technical direction for the domain and influence decisions across teams
  • Make architecture calls and mentor engineers beyond one squad
  • Create and upkeep the agents, skills, rules and documentation that enable the group to develop with AI, including MCP servers
  • Use AI coding agents for faster delivery and large-scale refactoring or migrations
  • Set review and testing rules for agent-generated pull requests
  • Lead ambiguous, high-impact projects from plan to shipped results
  • Write technical specs and define performance metrics
  • Maintain coding standards and lead peer reviews
  • Communicate clearly with distributed teams and non-technical partners

Requirements

  • Strong command of .NET (C#, .NET Core and the ASP.NET Web API stack) and SQL Server
  • Working foundation in frontend development with React, Svelte or SvelteKit, along with JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Staff-level background running production systems for years
  • AI development process experience, including skills, agent setups, rules and MCP integrations built for a live codebase
  • Strong Git workflow with branching, pull requests and reviews
  • API design knowledge (REST, GraphQL), plus concurrency and queue-based architecture
  • Observability and production operations experience

Qualifications

  • Azure experience with App Services, Functions, Service Bus and Redis
  • Building CI/CD workflows in tools such as GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
  • LLM-based product features involving tool use, retrieval or evaluations
  • NodeJS skills

Benefits

  • Work on products that could change an industry
