Job Description
saas.group is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its expanding ScraperAPI team on a remote-first basis. ScraperAPI provides an enterprise-scale web extraction solution utilised across sectors like e-commerce, market research, travel, and real estate. This role focuses on tackling complex anti-bot and bot-mitigation systems, investigating blocking mechanisms, and engineering repeatable methods to navigate around security measures. Operating within a high-autonomy and self-directed environment, the incoming engineer will take ownership of intricate technical hurdles, guide AI coding agents precisely, and design a greenfield agentic testing environment over the initial six months. Candidates should possess a deep, foundational comprehension of networking protocols, internet mechanics, and systematic problem-solving skills rooted in scientific method rather than trial and error. The position suits individuals who thrive on troubleshooting challenging technical barriers independently while collaborating closely with a global team. saas.group operates as a software portfolio company founded in 2017 that acquires and scales B2B SaaS ventures, housing nearly 400 remote colleagues across more than 50 countries. Employees benefit from a collaborative culture, flexible time off, and minimal bureaucracy within a friendly community of entrepreneurial SaaS professionals.

- Design and construct a greenfield agentic environment in collaboration with senior team members to propose and execute tests on anti-bot behaviours
- Operate largely independently on complex engineering problems while communicating plans and joining major incident responses when required
- Direct AI coding tools with precision and evaluate their outputs critically
Requirements
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of internet fundamentals including HTTP, TLS, fingerprinting, proxies, headers, cookies, and browser behaviour
- Apply a scientific, methodical approach to hypothesis testing and problem solving
- Bring hands-on engineering capability in Node.js, TypeScript, and Python
- Show proficiency across large-scale backend systems such as Postgres, Redis/Valkey, MongoDB, Puppeteer/Camoufox, and Kubernetes
- Exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote-first team
Qualifications
- Direct web scraping experience is a strong plus
- Background in anti-bot or web-security work, reverse engineering, or academic and research paths involving custom tooling and the scientific method
Core Skills
