Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship new features and services for Chainguard Containers from initial design to production
- Own project trade-offs including scope, sequencing, and feature cuts
- Collaborate with AI coding agents and help the team adopt them safely
- Investigate problems across team services, customer calls, support tickets, and go-to-market data
- Maintain system health through observability, on-call duties, and fixing root causes
- Write design notes, pull request descriptions, and status updates regularly
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience building and operating software used by paying customers, ideally at a startup or hyper-growth company
- Strong fundamentals in a systems language, with Go preferred
- Experience with API design, databases, caching, and cloud infrastructure on GCP or AWS
- Working knowledge of containers, container registries, the OCI image format, and Kubernetes
- Strong written English communication skills and experience on a distributed, remote team
Qualifications
- Background in software supply chain security such as SBOMs, Sigstore signing, or SLSA
- Familiarity with open-source tools like Wolfi, apko, and melange
- Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools
- History of authorship or contribution to open-source projects
- Non-traditional path into engineering
