Job Description
Foodics is building a new accounting product that gathers the bookkeeping merchants already do inside Foodics and converts it into full, closed books without making them enter anything twice. The product is being created from scratch by a small squad, so this remote senior role comes with high uncertainty and fast-moving timelines.
The engineer helps design and build the core product, covering the general ledger, chart of accounts, journal entries, payables and receivables, reconciliation and financial reporting. Integration with inventory, payments, POS transactions and regulatory e-invoicing is in scope, as is compliance with ZATCA. Everyone on the team works across the stack, from database design to the interface, and takes early architecture decisions. Working with AI tools is expected to be central to how the team builds.
Candidates need five-plus years of shipping production code, including substantial work on accounting, ERP or finance systems. A firm understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and period close is necessary, and the engineer must be able to work largely within GMT+3 hours. The role involves close collaboration with a PM and a subject-matter accountant, and the goal is to deliver features within weeks and test them with real merchants.
Responsibilities
- Help shape and construct the central accounting product, including the ledger, journals, payables and receivables, reconciliation and reporting
- Own integrations with inventory, payments, POS flows and regulatory e-invoicing
- Build features end to end, from schema through interface
- Turn bookkeeping requirements into system designs alongside a PM and a subject-matter accountant
- Use AI tools to evaluate reference systems, draft code and review output
- Make early architecture calls and be ready to defend them

- Everyday use of AI agents and LLM tools, with judgement about where their output is safe to trust
- History of fast delivery in early-stage or greenfield teams
- A careful, correctness-first approach where errors are costly
- Ability to work largely within GMT+3 hours
Qualifications
- Experience building a general-ledger core, a double-entry engine or a high-throughput transaction system
- Experience in fintech, banking, payments or other financial services
- Familiarity with ERPNext, Odoo, NetSuite or SAP, as a builder, integrator or user
- Work on ZATCA e-invoicing or similar regional tax integrations
- Experience shipping AI-powered product features
- Arabic speaker
