The company is hiring a Senior Software Engineer - Infrastructure Security to join its newly formed Security Engineering Team. This remote-first position can be performed from any location in Canada or the United States, subject to eligibility guidelines.
The person in this role will support both the Quora and Poe platforms by building robust safeguards around company infrastructure, products, and personnel. Ideal candidates are outcome-focused engineers who excel at prioritizing critical tasks, scaling solutions appropriately, and communicating effectively across teams. Applicants must be available for meetings and spontaneous communication during coordination hours, which run Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Pacific Time. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering groups to evaluate and review cloud and compute architecture design modifications
- Build threat models for cloud and compute environments to detect potential security vulnerabilities
- Create or utilize open-source utilities to harden operating systems, monitor cloud infrastructure, establish security logging pipelines, and spot intrusions
- Leverage expertise in AWS and Kubernetes security practices to guide remediation efforts and shape control roadmaps
- Define and implement security policies while tracking adherence to those standards
- Write automation code to handle tasks such as threat detection, incident containment, and network access management
- Perform initial incident triage, assess scope, urgency, and impact, and engage in the incident response lifecycle
Requirements
- Proficiency as a software engineer with strong domain expertise in cloud infrastructure security, automation, secure development practices, or Linux and system security
- Hands-on experience securing large-scale cloud systems, specifically within AWS
- Familiarity with building infrastructure-as-code pipelines using Terraform or CloudFormation
- Understanding of IAM policies, network segmentation, VPC design, and cloud monitoring and logging
- Skill in automating security processes and integrating security tools into CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with container security, POSIX Capabilities, SECCOMP, and Linux Security Modules
- Availability for communication and meetings during coordination hours from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Pacific Time
Qualifications
- Experience implementing security measures in Kubernetes clusters or serverless architectures
- Background in building secure web applications and APIs with knowledge of the OWASP Top 10 and common vulnerabilities such as XSS, CSRF, and SQL injection
