Job Description
Mural is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Integrated Workflows team. This role focuses on embedding Mural into essential business tools and building the integration platform that other internal teams use to deliver connected experiences. The position bridges product development and platform engineering, requiring work with third-party APIs, SDKs, and external developer ecosystems.
The person in this role will design and build reliable, secure integrations, establish shared frameworks, and manage content pathways such as imports, exports, and iFrame embeddings. Responsibilities include handling two-way synchronization with systems of record, managing the public developer API, and incorporating AI tools into everyday workflows. The position requires guiding complex technical projects from research to release while mentoring early-career colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Build and evolve two-way data synchronization with systems of record such as Jira, Linear, and Asana
- Design and maintain integrations across the Microsoft ecosystem, video conferencing tools, and messaging platforms like Slack and Teams
- Develop and expand the integration platform frameworks and services utilized by other teams
- Own content pathways including image panels, file uploads, exports, downloads, and self-serve format conversions
- Partner with other teams on shared system boundaries like notification engines and export renderers
- Maintain the public API with backward-compatibility for third-party developers
- Lead end-to-end technical projects from conceptualization and proof of concept to execution and iteration
- Design automated testing and documentation strategies that account for upstream API failures
- Utilize AI tools as part of fundamental engineering workflows
- Review peer code and participate in technical designs to elevate team skills
Requirements
- 5 or more years of experience building and releasing large-scale production software within an agile engineering team
- Fluency in modern JavaScript and TypeScript
- Experience with technologies such as React and Node.js
- Hands-on background integrating third-party APIs and platforms, including OAuth, webhooks, rate limiting, and versioning
- Proven history of designing and delivering scalable, high-performance systems
- Experience planning technical projects and delivering features iteratively
Qualifications
- Experience working in fast-paced startup environments or high-growth companies
- Background building against Microsoft Teams or Office add-in SDKs or navigating partner app review processes
- Prior experience designing and maintaining a public developer API
- Familiarity with Python
- Experience with secure large-scale file handling, including malware scanning and permission validation
- Background in content migration, format conversion, and managing fidelity issues between products
