This opportunity is designed for an experienced professional who operates fluently across both iOS and Android platforms, building features natively in Swift and Kotlin without relying on cross-platform frameworks like React Native or Flutter. The chosen candidate will own capabilities end-to-end across both mobile codebases, ensuring architectural consistency, optimal performance, and high product quality.
Daily responsibilities involve designing and launching parallel initiatives for iOS and Android, collaborating with product and design teams, and maintaining shared client contracts. Candidates should be comfortable handling technical ambiguity, contributing to architectural discussions, and mentoring less experienced engineers on dual-platform practices. Occasional visits to an office or attendance at offsites may be required.
Responsibilities
- Design and ship features across native iOS and Android codebases simultaneously
- Collaborate with product and design partners to build platform-idiomatic implementations
- Maintain high architecture, performance, and app-size standards across both platforms
- Contribute to shared client schemas, logging, and testing frameworks
- Mentor team members through code reviews and pairing on dual-platform tasks
- Engage in technical reviews and architectural discussions spanning both ecosystems
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of professional software engineering experience
- Hands-on expertise in native iOS development using Swift, UIKit, and SwiftUI
- Hands-on expertise in native Android development using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- Demonstrated ability to independently ship medium to large complexity features
- Reside in a US state where Airbnb, Inc. maintains a registered corporate entity
