This full-time, on-site senior nursing role in Nigeria focuses on patient safety and recovery in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The specialist nurse monitors vital signs for signs of distress, leads and mentors junior nurses, and supports recovery protocols, audits and quality improvement.
Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor vital signs and detect airway, oxygen, bleeding or cardiovascular complications.
- Assess patients on admission to the PACU and give prescribed medications and fluids.
- Lead post-operative debriefings and mentor junior nurses and support staff.
- Take part in clinical audits, incident reporting and the development of recovery protocols.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing licence.
- 7+ years of experience after RN qualification, including at least 5 years in the relevant specialty.
- Eligibility to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
Qualifications
- A degree in nursing, or current enrolment in a nursing degree programme.
- Specialized training or certification relevant to the role, such as ICU or PACU.
- An advanced degree, such as a master's in nursing, is desirable.
