Job Description
Juniper Square operates a financial technology platform serving private markets, unifying data, fund administration services, and technology for general partners. The company acts as an operations partner for over 2,300 general partners and oversees more than $300 billion in assets on behalf of over 700,000 limited partners. Founded in 2014 and backed by more than $350 million in funding, the firm employs over 1,000 staff members. The organization is currently seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer (AI) to lead the evolution and architecture of core systems, distributed services, and cloud infrastructure.
This hands-on leadership position requires a technical expert who guides teams through intricate technical hurdles by actively building, writing code, and prototyping solutions. The professional in this role will spearhead a strategic priority within the GPX business line to scale offerings for massive private equity institutions managing $100 billion or more in assets. The individual will design a scalable cloud platform, establish golden paths and internal tooling for the developer platform, and engineer systems capable of supporting production AI workloads such as agent fleets and inference pipelines. Candidates will also contribute to enterprise sales conversations, mentor senior engineers, and enhance reliability practices.
Responsibilities
- Define and manage the end-to-end systems architecture strategy across infrastructure, services, and the developer platform.
- Design fault-tolerant, scalable distributed systems utilizing event-driven architectures, asynchronous workflows, and synchronous APIs.
- Write production-grade code, review critical performance code paths, and prototype platform components.
- Build paved-road developer infrastructure, golden paths, internal tooling, and self-service capabilities for engineering teams.
- Partner with AI workflow teams to support production artificial intelligence workloads like agent fleets and inference pipelines.
- Re-architect bottlenecked systems and define scalability targets to handle significantly larger transaction and data volumes.
- Lead incident response maturity, capacity planning, chaos engineering, and cloud spend optimization.
- Act as the principal technical authority and mentor senior engineers across product, infrastructure, and platform teams.
Requirements
- Over 15 years of professional background working in infrastructure, platform engineering, or distributed systems roles.
- Proven history of architecting high-availability, large-scale, multi-tenant distributed systems in live production environments.
- Strong hands-on technical capacity with modern cloud-native technology stacks including Kubernetes, containers, service mesh, and serverless.
- Deep expertise in core distributed systems fundamentals such as consensus, consistency models, idempotency, backpressure, and partitioning.
- Advanced working proficiency in languages like Go, Python, or Java alongside systems-level debugging skills.
- Solid operational command of infrastructure as code tools like Pulumi or Terraform alongside modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Extensive experience designing streaming and event-driven architectures utilizing Kafka or comparable tools.
- Thorough understanding of observability practices, site reliability engineering principles, and infrastructure security compliance.
Qualifications
- Possession of an advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field of study.
- Prior involvement in taking a software-as-a-service platform upmarket to service large institutional or enterprise clients.
- Previous background working within fintech systems, fund accounting, or private markets with complicated financial domain models.
- Experience constructing infrastructure tailored for artificial intelligence and large language model workloads, including GPU scheduling and inference serving.
- Familiarity with data-sensitive, highly regulated, or high-growth software-as-a-service environments.
- Demonstrated experience optimizing large-scale cloud expenditures.
- Practical background scaling relational databases such as PostgreSQL under heavy concurrent loads.
