Coinbase is seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager, Consumer to join the Consumer and Business organization, which oversees flagship retail offerings such as trading, investing, prediction markets, derivatives, equities, credit cards, and related financial products. This full-time, remote position operates on a remote-first model that requires attendance at quarterly in-person working sessions known as surges.
In this capacity, the professional will steer complex, multi-quarter initiatives from initial problem formulation through release and post-release review. Responsibilities include managing operational cadence, tracking milestones, handling cross-functional dependencies, and collaborating with engineering leaders to assess system scalability and reliability. Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end execution of complex, cross-functional programs starting from problem definition through launch and post-launch follow-up
- Establish and run the operational cadence for programs including kickoffs, status reviews, dashboards, and risk tracking
- Identify cross-team dependencies proactively, build mitigation strategies, and escalate issues when leadership decisions are necessary
- Partner with engineering leadership to evaluate technical trade-offs concerning reliability, scalability, and long-term maintainability
- Convert product and business objectives into actionable program plans while defining key performance indicators to direct prioritization
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of background working as a Technical Program Manager, engineering leader, or comparable function directing large technical programs at a high-growth consumer technology firm
- Demonstrated history of steering cross-functional initiatives through ambiguity, tight deadlines, and regulatory constraints independently
- Technical fluency in modern distributed systems adequate to collaborate with Staff-level engineers on architecture and design decisions
- Experience defining program-level metrics and using data dashboards to guide prioritization and influence stakeholders without direct authority
- Familiarity with trading, brokerage, payments, fintech products, crypto, web3, or DeFi ecosystems
- Ability to utilize generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, quality, and cost
